Affliction 'Day of Reckoning' Results: Fedor, Barnett, Babalu Victorious

Just in from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California are the results from Affliction: "Day of Reckoning."

In the main event, Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko defeated Andrei Arlovski by knockout in the first round. Fedor has made a habit of running through opponents in recent years, but many experts felt that with a solid ground game and striking skills recently sharpened by Freddie Roache, Arlovski would present a legitimate challenge. Apparently, nobody told Fedor. He rolled right through the former UFC champion and the biggest question now is, can anybody outside the UFC stop this guy?

Another highly publicized bout was the one between Heavyweights Josh Barnett and Gilbert Yvel. Yvel came into his first American fight with a slightly checkered past, but did a lot of PR work (including a guest analyst spot on HDNet's Inside MMA) and made big strides toward clearing up any doubts about his character. The fight itself lasted into the third round. Barnett dominated with ground-and-pound, plus a few submission attempts. The former wore Yvel down and he eventually tapped due to strikes.

In other action on the main card, Vitor Belfort scored a dramatic first round knockout over Matt Lindland. After appearing to win the first round, Sokoudjou was caught in an Anaconda choke by Renato "Babalu" Sobral.
