56-Year-Old Woman 1st To Swim Atlantic

Fifty-six year old, Jennifer Figge, became the first woman to swim the Atlantic Ocean on February 5th.

After a month of not being on land, Figge came ashore in Trinidad.

Jennifer Figge is a resident of Aspen, Colorado. She set off from Africa on January 12th to land herself, 2,100 miles and nearly a month later, in Trinidad.

Figge was accompanied on her trip by a sailboat that had a crew that assisted her by throwing power drinks to her as she swam, at times, through 30-foot waves.

It was reported that her longest time in the water was 8 hours and the shortest time was 21 minutes.

Figge intends to embark on the final leg of her journey on Monday night. She will leave Trinidad and swim for the British Virgin Islands.
